Collection: Cantera Opal Cabochons
I purchased each of these Cantera Opals at the source in La Trinidad, Mexico from the opal miner who not only found them, but fashioned them into cabochons.
La Trinidad's Fire Opal deposits date back from before the Spanish conquest but their location was abandoned and lost during that time. They were rediscovered sometime in the early 1800's and have been producing since.
Besides the opals, one reason I'm always eager to return to Mexico is for the food! These particular goat tacos are something my partner in Mexico and I stop to have before entering La Trinidad in search of opals. They are hands down the best I've ever eaten and I just couldn't resist sharing a photo of them
