Maw Sit Sit - Burma

AAA+ quality Maw Sit Sit from northern Myanmar, showing rich chromium green interspersed with dark mottled areas typical of this rare rock. The polished surface highlights the dense intergrowth of kosmochlor and jadeite that gives it its distinctive appearance.

Discovered in the 1960s near the jade mines of Hpakan, Maw Sit Sit forms under the same high-pressure conditions that produce jadeite. It is a complex rock composed mainly of kosmochlor, with minor jadeite, albite, and chromite.

True Burmese material is limited, and only a small amount reaches the market today. Larger, vividly colored pieces such as this are increasingly uncommon
