Strontium Titanate

Strontium Titanate was a popular diamond simulant in the 1950s before the era of YAG,  GGG, and CZ.  It particularly stands out for its incredible dispersion - it is over four times greater than diamond!  It has a moh's hardness of 5.5.

Retail names included: "Fabulite," "Diagem," "Marvelite," "Dynagem," and "Jewelite."

Strontium Titanate is typically created via flame-fusion and comes in variety of colors.  Not only is it used as a beyond average fiery gemstone, it has been used historically for optical instruments, high-voltage capacitors, voltage-dependent resistors, advanced ceramics, and substrates for superconductors.
