Collection: Larimar

The only source for this material is the Dominican Republic, and the dreamy porcelain blue certainly has an island feel.  A favorite of lapidary artists, we are glad to be able to offer this excellent material.  These are not wimpy slabs, they average 8-12 mm thick! Shown wet to simulate the polish.
Interestingly, Larimar is the trade name for Blue Pectolite.  The name originates from a Dominican rough dealer who combined his daughter's nickname 'Lari' with the spanish word 'mar,' which means the 'sea.'  The color of this stone is world famous for resembling the Carribbean.  And for our rock science nerds, the first stones were discovered in the Baoroco River and ultimately the source was discovered upstream in the mountains.
