Russian synthetic quartz was often grown using the hydrothermal method. This process involves dissolving silica in a superheated solution and allowing it to crystallize on a seed crystal, resulting in high-purity quartz with excellent optical properties. The white line from the seed crystal is a characteristic feature of this growth method
