Ametrine

100% natural Ametrine from Bolivia

Ametrine is sawn, or extracted, from nodules. In the process, the saw leaves a dull surface. The pieces are then tumbled to give them a polished surface and make them more appealing to sell. Another reason they're tumbled, is I believe there is restrictions on the export of rough stones from Bolivia, so giving them a 'finished' appearance may be a way around the export restriction

The world's only commercial source of ametrine is the Anahi mine in southeastern Bolivia. According to legend, the mine's location was discovered by a Spanish conquistador in the 1600s and he introduced the gem to Europeans by presenting several specimens to his queen
