Slab of rare and world-reknown Petrified Wood from Hells Canyon - located along the border of our home state Oregon and Idaho, USA!
This wood turned stone is from ancient Sequoia trees that formed during the Cretaceous and Miocene epochs. The wavy lines you see are the trees annual growth rings when it was alive. The small cavities/pockets you see are believed to be spots of dry rot that have since filled with silica and micro-crystals.
These slabs cut amazing cabochons that tell a story of the ages! Shown both dry and wet (to simulate polish).
