Collection: Spessartite
This collection has Spessartine (also called spessartite) from two locations; Tunduru and Loliondo, Tanzania⠀⠀
The most pure orange is from the Loliondo deposit that was discovered around 15 years ago on land occupied by a Maasai tribe. They were finding complete odecahedral crystals that took the mineral community by storm. The damaged crystals were often cobbed into faceting rough ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
The deposit lasted a couple of years and then it took a couple more years for the material to virtually dry up in the market ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Recently they must have found a new vein because we've been able to source the finest material we've seen in recent memory ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
This material is known for having fine bubbles - often referred to as 'sugar'. The benefit of these tiny bubbles is they produce an ultra sparkly and sought after gem. ⠀
